Governor Sanwoolu Asked to Meet the Boy in The "Mummy Calm Down" Video as He Urges Lagosians to 'Calm Down."

Have you seen the video of a boy telling her mum to calm down when her mum was about to beat him? This has inspired the Lagos State Governor to tell Lagosians to 'calm down' as they celebrate the Sallah festival.

The governor wrote on his Instagram page@jidesanwoolu "I saw a video of one charming young boy online asking his mom to ‘calm down’ as she was set to punish him for his misdemeanour.

I was moved by his sobriety, which reflected in his promise of “last chance”, when confronted with the fact that he is a regular offender.

The exchange was indeed funny, but it depicts the efforts parents put in moulding children into responsible adults. I want to assume that his mom indeed calmed down because the appeal was moving enough to make anyone change their mind.

Interestingly, the video inspired this special message to the good people of Lagos State because of the deeper meaning it conveys.

Fellow Lagosians, we need to ‘calm down’ as we enjoy the coming holiday and festivity.
It is a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s heart of sacrifice and faith in Allah.
We need to emulate and demonstrate his sense of self-restraint at this time the world is combating the scourge of COVID-19.

We need to be moderate in our celebration and also observe prescribed protocols towards defeating the deadly coronavirus, which are, maintaining social distancing, washing and sanitizing our hands, and using our face masks.

The world needs responsibility and commitment of its people to oust coronavirus.
I urge every Lagosian to ‘calm down’ and not get carried away by the ‘excitement of the moment’. Like the rest of the world, we are still in the middle of a pandemic and need to remain extremely careful to keep the gains of the sacrifices we have all made in the past months.

 Let’s calm down!

Meanwhile, I would like to meet the young boy since we both have exclusive right to the phrasal verb ‘calm down’."

Breaking News: Lagos State Government Suspends Reopening of Worship Centres.

All preparations by Christians and Muslims in Lagos to resume worship at their various worship centres has been quashed as Lagos State Government announced an indefinite suspension of the planned reopening of mosques and churches on Friday, June 19 and Sunday, June 21 respectively.

This was disclosed by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday, June 16, during a press briefing at Alausa Ikeja.

The governor explained that this is as a result of the rising cases of the coronavirus pandemic in the state which has been the epicentre of the virus in the country.

The governor had on Thursday, June 4 asked mosques to reopen from June 19, adding that churches can begin services from June 21.

This will come as a disappointment to many worshippers who had braced themselves for the reopening of their places of worship but the decisions seem inevitable owing to the rising cases of Covid-19 in Lagos State.

Ought Government not to have cancelled the proposed reopening, let’s hear your view about this development.

NPOWER: Here is what to do if you are yet to receive March and April Stipends.

As volunteers started receiving their stipends for the month of May, some aggrieved group of volunteers has taken to Twitter to protest the non-payment of their March and April stipends. The group claimed that over 80,000 volunteers are yet to receive stipends for March and April.

We are working on resolving the issues. And we have asked them to send details in again for comparison."

In an earlier message by the handler of NPOWER Twitter handle, he had given instructions that volunteers should follow if they are yet to receive their stipends.
